This Walnut Sculpted Desk was designed specifically for two of my favourite clients. The main request was to have an elegant minimalist desk but with a sculptural element.
As always I provided a number of designs for my clients and they decided to go ahead with the design outlined by the miniature model I showed at the beginning of this video.
The model is to scale and helped to not only visualise the design but also helped in the construction of the desk as I could reference the curves and angles of the rails.

As always thank you so much for your support here on YouTube. The fact that you even watch my videos means I can continue to make more unique builds and share them with you. And if you haven’t already, please consider subscribing as this will help my videos to get pushed out to more and more people.

Telling people to shout out their own channels in the comments speaks volumes to your character. Fan for life.

As a professional film maker and a hobbyist woodworker I would have thought you had a background in video production. Your woodworking is truly inspiring, but it’s the quality of your videos that keeps me coming back to your channel. Thanks for all the great content.

Your photo of the underside of your desk says a lot. I’ve been to many shows featuring “fine” furniture over more decades than I care to remember. I’m “that guy”that gets down on the floor and looks up to see what’s “inside”. Its mostly to get ideas “for how things were done”. It’s amazing how much different the fit and finish of what shows versus what’s hidden that there is in many “fine” pieces. I appreciate the care you took with the work shown in that shot.

Thanks for letting me send my audition tape in! My agent says this could be my big break...although, I think he was referring to Shopcat Jerry 😜. Seriously mate, another incredible piece of furniture that is full of creative design, intention, form and function.

I love the way he casually works with huge chunks of gorgeous walnut. The budget just for wood on this build must be huge.

Wow, you blow my mind! You’re a brilliant designer and maker. I get very excited every time you post a video and never want them to end. Best woodworker on YouTube.

2:40 for those new to design, don’t mistake room specific applications as a limitation. This is actually a huge advantage in design because now you can focus the appearance of your elements to look amazing from a fewer viewpoints.

As wood workers, we are subconsciously Accustom to designing our work to be viewed from all sides and any angle - which is the real limitation

You're the one woodworker I always watch your new videos on my TV because they deserve to be seen on my giant, beautiful OLED. I'm always blown away by your beautiful work mate, it's remarkable and while I do woodwork myself, I can't even comprehend your talent, it leaves me speechless. Thanks for sharing, wish I could be part of the patreon, I'd love to see all your other amazing videos. Thanks for continuing to raise the bar in the woodworking world. ❤

As a hobbyist woodworker, I almost want to give up when I see the level you're at! Simply amazing.

I make stuff, I just started recording videos in my small workshop and I realized how difficult it is to shoot videos and do something. So thank you for your work.

The beauty and grace of form brought a tear to my eye. Kinda like watching a master performance of a piano concerto; not many ever possess the drive and talent to do it right.
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 Bravo

I don't make stuff for YouTube. But I always like to do something around the house. A few months ago I saw your workbench video and it inspired me to make my own furniture for the house. since then, 2 chests of drawers and a bed for my daughter are in the process. you are an incredible master!!!

I'm 20 now and I've been learning about furniture making since I was 16. Whenever I watch your videos and learn new techniques, I feel like I haven't learned a single lesson in those 4 years. And the way you talk gives a different energy to go deeper into the woodwork.
Hoping to learn more from you

That’s one heck of a sculpt for such a nimble looking structure.
13:09 is a great message to keep an open mind, also there is something to learn in every field that you can apply to yours.
