I'm sure I didn't talk enough about other survivors and weak proc chains. Sorry about that!

Ok but you forgot that sticky bomb is my favorite item, accounting for this you would see that quite clearly it’s the best item in the game

As someone that loves sticky bomb learning they have 0.0 proc coefficient literally tore my heart out 💔

Ahh this explains why Dan always says to think of sticky bombs like crit! I did not know that it had a 0.0 proc coefficient.

You should 3000% do more item and mechanic breakdowns. This was fantastic

"the game is roughly 5 and a half years old" hey what the fuck man

I like how the commando is constantly attacking during the proc-chain example. Gives a good visual representation of how it works

Fun fact: with railgunners super charge you only need 7 sticky bombs to have a guaranteed proc on that shot.

THANK YOU!!! This item had quite the fall from grace, but it is still by no means bad at all. Never understood why some of the ppl I play w/ always instascrap it. It's literally free damage. Great vid man

I've often thought of them as alternative crit. I think it was something like, 9% increased damage per stack on average instead of the 10% per stack that Lens Maker's Glasses provide, assuming proc coefficient isn't lower than 1. That's pretty good on its own, being "budget crit" is nothing to scoff at in the first place.

However, the great tradeoff for having slightly less average damage per stack is that the max potential of sticky bombs is actually higher than crit, as in, 100% sticky bomb proc chance is stronger than 100% crit. You do need at least 12 sticky bombs to have a higher average damage boost than 100% crit (more with a low proc coefficient), which isn't a super common amount to find in a non-loop run even with printers, but sometimes you DO get that opportunity, and sticky bomb gets to shine brighter than crit!
There's also the interesting difference in how they proc- crit chance is per ability use, while sticky bomb is per enemy hit. This means that survivors with AOE abilities can significantly amplify sticky bomb's usefulness by hitting their abilities on multiple enemies, so even if it doesn't proc on all of them, there's good chance it'll proc on at least one. In this case, that's another nice positive. You can also mention the small AOE damage the bombs themselves have but honestly it doesn't tend to matter that much, and it's basically random if it does, but if you wanna count that as another small pro, sure.

The negatives of sticky bomb compared to crit, apart from the slightly lower average damage per stack, is firstly that the damage is delayed and that can sometimes put you in a bad situation, secondly that the proc being per enemy hit instead of per ability use, something I previously mentioned as a positive for AOE survivors, is most definitely a negative for any abilities with a proc coefficient lower than 1, making the item MUCH less universally good. And finally, that the damage isn't a part of the hit's "total damage", Add to this the fact that sticky bomb has no proc coefficient, and this makes sticky bomb worse, or at least more inconsistent, than crit with proc items. Technically if both the original hit and any proc item that came from it proc sticky bomb, it's not worse, but that's only as consistent as crit if your sticky bomb chance is 100% even with proc coefficients lower than 1, which is obviously rare. None of this is a problem with crit, if the hit crits then the total damage is amplified and therefore the proc items' damage is also amplified, simple. Basically, sticky bomb is worse with proc items, especially those with a proc coefficient lower than 1.

Overall, still a good item I'd still put decently below Lens Makers' Glasses. If my survivor works decently with it I still print it when I get the chance, only with a little bit less priority than crit (if I have both printers I'll print similar amounts for both of them tho)

i must say this was a great video going in depth about the sticky bomb and visually explaining it helped me understand the sticky bomb better and was much more interesting than the wiki

When an enemy dies while a stick bomb is on them, doesn’t the bomb fall to the floor, making it less effective when hitting wisps

I'd be so hype to see this turn into a full series covering a lot of these lesser understood items in the game

Would love to see more videos like this. I knew this before but now I have a better understanding of the concepts. Behind it

Now I want to see a Factorio-style procchain flowchart with every single proc item in the game feeding into each other.

First time watching this channel (thanks DisputedOrigin) and the visual presentations of the data are super helpful. Looking forward to more!

yeah it also has an amazing synergy with Railgunner, and her Special. Especially when you start stacking ATG's and Perforators. 4000% times 3, 12000%. 12000% times 1.8 and you get whatever that is. That's not taking the crit damage bonus and crit glasses/Watches into account.
