ZBrush 2019 Tutorial - SpotLight and Snapshot3D

ZBrush 2019 is here and with it a host of new features to check out. I'm Follygon and in this video we'll be taking a look at the new Spotlight 2.0 and Snapshot3D tools added to ZBrush 2019.

Snapshot 3D is a new modeling tool that essentially allows you to extrude and create geometry from an alpha. This tool is being appended to the Spotlight tool, which I use all the time, and there are a host of new additions to that as well. You can now directly paint and create masks, and you can combine and boolean subtract masks from one another. There's a lot of room here for creating some complex shapes very quickly.

SpotLight v2.0 includes all the powerful projection mapping and PolyPaint features that you're already used to. It also makes it possible to convert any gray-scale image (alpha) into a 3D model. The source images can be modified in SpotLight or even combined through Boolean-type addition or subtraction to create even more complex 3D shapes. The model generated by this system can serve as a base for sculpting or even be used with the Live Boolean system to create intricate works of art.

Hi! I'm still pretty new to Zbrush. I find that whenever I rotate an alpha, the whole panel of them rotates with the puck. I see yours isn't doing this, so I do I get the puck to rotate seperately? Thanks!

If I have rebound my z key, where can I access the toggle show/hide for the edit wheel in the interface?

I am getting rounded corners when using this when the alpha is sharp edges, any idea why this is ?
