"The Pro developers just never gonna use this..." - I can't agree with you Reid. Running totals can be rather expensive when done, say, over each of 365 days on X axis. An alternative when a visuals does 365 simple SUMs for each point and only one running totals as an aggregation of those 365 numbers will be a tremendous performance booster!

Looks like Visual Calcs in Power BI is conceptually similar to Tableau's Table Calculations

Would love to see a recursive calc ability, something like the DAX equivalent of List.Accumulate or List.Generate, where within the function you could reference the previous result of the iteration
