The Miners and Smithers of RuneScape was once RuneScape's largest and most generous skilling clan. Throughout most of RuneScape Classic and RuneScape 2 they gave away billions of GP to random players. Until Jagex made an update to the game that made them disappear overnight. This is their story.

So happy to this this video. I am a retired member of MaSoRs who joined the clan in 2007. I also was also a Senior member that went on to become part of the advisory council before I retired. Seeing this video pop up out of nowhere brings back the Nostalgia of being part of the team that made it happen. For years before EOC and trade restrictions we'd so a semi annual drop party with the big obe being the summer ones. The very last one we did after trade restrictions were lifted one of our leaders decided to drop his Purple or white party hat as well (i think worth 220m at the time.) The person who ended up getting was i think some newer player in his base 50 stats and everyone just congratulated the legend

Wow. I had actually never heard of them, even though I might have been at one of their drop parties post free trade at one point. I hope this video brings some light back on this really amazing clan, and maybe they'll make an osrs clan.

Omg I can't believe there's a video about Masors!! I was a member in the early Runescape 2 years, all the way until EOC when most people quit. It was super cool seeing some recognizable names in the video. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Man I remember these guys showing up in the mining guide taking all the ore in classic. I joined straight away. So many of the usernames in the screenshots are straight nostalgia hits. I remember every single name in some of the friends lists lol. My username is Jardeath, I'm in some of the screenshots. I remember staying up all night for the drop parties in my teens, events weren't at great times being in Australia.

I've been the admin for their forum for the last 15+ years, at this point I basically just host it for archival purposes (though you need an account to see the content going back to ~2004) but there's a lot of history in there. A few of them are still somewhat active in Discord and play today, but I think most people just slowly stopped playing over time - life goes on I guess. Thanks for the video :)

The BRoll clips are always so good, using the classic chars, and in-game locations.. so good.

This explains a lot!! I started playing RuneScape around 2006/2007 during Christmas break I was 9/10. A couple weeks into the game I saw a player in all black drop some coin randomly next to the Lumbridge Castle (they might’ve let a goblin kill them if I remember correctly), I was broke and new so I went over and picked it up and it was about 500K. I always wondered what happened! My friends from school who got me into the game wouldn’t believe my story until I showed them. S/O to whoever that was, I always wanted to thank them for making my time playing RuneScape so much fun since I didn’t have to grind for $$ just working on my cooking and crafting. Plus allowing me to bank rolling some of my friends

Haven't played runescape in over 10 years, and these RS history vids scratch such a nostalgia itch! Great stuff man!

Well, I’ve actually never heard of them myself which is shocking I’ve been playing since 2004. Glad to see another video very excited.
