With all due respect, this is the first of the Sankofa Series videos I disagree with. This Sister clearly does not know of the Great Female Rulers and Warriors in the whole of African History. Africa had no Gender Issues until they were brought there by Islam, Christianity and European Colonizers.

Most great African women leaders Nzinga, queens of Akan, Tiye, Nanny, Amanirenas of kush, Kahina, etc all did not follow foreign religions. In fact the the council of hausea women was against the introduction of islam. African matrilineal systems, which includes female deities or gods goes against most foreign religions. This is why there is no great African female leaders that believe in foreign religions.

Certainly, there is a difference bet mentorship and godfatherism. Also, how did colonialism empowered african women? I was excited about the topic but was disappointed. Wouldn't be buying this book
