I Played Mario Kart 8 on Wii U in 2023 . . .

Do people still play the Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 in 2023/2024? Well today I test out Worldwides, Battle Mode, and check out some of the Time Trials to see if Mario Kart 8 still has a strong community.

Update: Online servers for both Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 1 have been in maintenance since March of this year. This means the games haven't been available to play online for about 5 months now. However, as of August 3rd the servers are back online and you can go and play right now! If you're wondering how I uploaded this video during the maintenance period, it's because I recorded the footage for it back in February and didn't get around to editing it until April/May. Hope this was helpful :)

I think we can all agree the graphics and art direction are jaw dropping for the hardware. I mean MK8 would look impressive on a Xbone or PS4 in 2014, and it runs at 60 FPS on hardware half a generation behind those consoles.

The fact that you played online in the og mk8, making it the fact that this recorded before March of this year, because now is also impossible to play online in mk8 and splatoon 1 (because the servers are "temporary" down due to the server exploit stuff)

I remember my brother getting this game back in 2014. it's so strange that people nowadays don't even know where this game came from. This was the first mario kart I ever owned. on wii u.

I played a lot in 2018 and i was surprised to see so many people still playing online. I played a lot of mk7 in 2020 and it was once again surprising. It's nice to see lobbies still being able to be filled in 2023 but it makes me wonder... how?

There are two features of Mario Kart 8 for WiiU that I really do truly miss:
1: Elimination Balloon Battle
2: Gamepad Screen Display

I shouldn't be watching so much YouTube I'm in a very depressing point of time for a reason nobody could care for. Anyways this is a cute little video, it takes me back to when I used to play the original Mario Kart 8 back in 2014, I remember I was really hyped seeing the first reveal trailer in 2013 and seeing all those commercials in 2014 where I finally got the game on my 11th birthday, a day after it's release. Thanks for sharing with everyone. It's takes me back to when the only thing that bothered me is not being able to beat a stage in Mario.

I've played with the bacon guy several times, their such a menace and a try hard (I mean look at those points bro hasn't stopped playing the game since it came out 💀) they've made a whole lobby rage quit after a while.

I have Mario Kart on Switch and Wii U. Never played the Wii U version, nice to know there are still people playing it. Since I recently pulled the Wii U out of storage to play Wind Waker HD…I might have to fire up Mario Kart too!!!
