Ukraine War: Why is Russia attacking Lviv?

Defence analyst Professor Michael Clarke gives his analysis on the overnight air strikes in Lviv, near Ukraine's border with Poland.

"The Russians are sending a message to the population of Ukraine that nowhere is safe, that if Moscow is targeted by drones, then we will be targeted by much more powerful cruise missiles."

On the war more generally, Professor Clarke says Ukraine is making slow progress but it has achieved "breakthroughs" in two to three places.

Is it possible that the Russians were attacking ammo dumps and other military targets in Lviv?

He didn't mention the northern front... I wonder why? Because Russia is taking many more kilometers a day than all Ukrainians gains in the south?

Need a microscope to see the Ukrainian progress. And the 82nd is the last card the AFU has left to play. Once they are exhausted, there’s nobody left after them.

This man is a paycheck military analyst, full of textbook and wistful analysis, which, of course, is meant to generate a view and appeal the channels base. Misinformation is business.

But Ukraine has 100% success rate in intercepting Russian missiles, right?

I guess it's just a coincidence that the town just so happens to be next to the Polish boarder then? I'd say it's more like Russia making a statement to Poland.

A narrow bottle-neck front like that is akin to a _'Turkey shoot', _ as all the Russian's have to do is throw any munition they have into that small patch of ground where they can be certain to hit something. Its got to be a broader front than that else something truly horrible is bound to happen.

Of course Mr Clarke ignores that there are military resources in Lviv including equipment sent by NATO.

He also ignores the casualties in the Zaphorizhia front.

I love how he says they are making great progress, then ends it with "it's slow". So great slow progress???

Other reports suggest Ukraine have failed in the offensive and at best have taken back a few fields and some empty villages

Dnipro does not get attacked almost every night. I was there 2 weeks ago filming for my channel and locals told me they haven't had an attack in weeks. Although it did get badly hit a few nights after I left.
