I received my XR's a few days ago and couldn't be happier. It just worked out the box I changed nothing, it melts away feels like an extension of my foot. Looks are personal and subjective I love it, the pictures and videos don't do the pedals justice I feel its just a beautiful bit of engineering. The spring on hard is very fast and on soft is brilliant for slow tempo's. I agree with George anyone who thinks 1-2 degrees beater adjustment will improve their drumming should change instruments, or go outside touch some grass and get a reality check. I think most of the negatives I read online are from people who have never actually used the unit or suffer from some self important snobbery. This XR has a lifetime warranty, plays far better than most peoples ability and I defiantly recommend it. The beaters are vicious btw! They truly are aggressive strikes.

Bought this pedal and I'm so happy with it. I played a DW 5000 for 16 years and didn't expect to like it since I'm not familiar with direct drive but it's fantastic. I love the smooth footboard since I use the slide technique for fast double strokes.

It is insanely pricey. However I tried it in a music shop and I must say it is the first direct drive pedal I have liked

Seems like marketing departments and accountants rule - make a less technically advanced pedal and say "machined design", when the only machined part is the footboard, and charge more. I'm guessing it's significantly cheaper to make so the profit margin is MUCH bigger.
