There is sooo much more to do in Bergen! Here are some tips from a local:

If you're into hiking, we have at least 7 different very accessible mountains to choose from. Besides Fløyen I'd personally recommend Ulriken, Løvstakken, Sandviksfjellet or Rundemanen. Many of the mountains here are connected, so you can walk from one to the other, often feeling like you're not even in the city anymore.

If you're into old architecture and want to see something besides Bryggen and Bergenhus, I'd recommend talking a walk among the old houses in Sandviken, and visit the museum called Gamle Bergen. Nordnes is also a good place for seeing old houses, there you'll also find a big aquarium, a nice park and an outdoor pool area.

On the way to Nordnes, you'll probably walk through Strandgaten/Gågaten, which are streets housing some small unique shops and cafés.

If you're into classical music, go visit Troldhaugen, which was the famous composer Edvard Grieg's home, and is now a museum which also sometimes arranges concerts. I'd also recommend Ole Bull's former home at Lysøen, an island a little south of Bergen.

We have several beautiful churches if you're into that, maybe the most famous one being Fantoft stave church. Mariakirken, Domkirken and Johanneskirken are also among my favorites.

If you want to see where the king and queen stays when they're in Bergen, go visit the Gamlehaugen castle.

If you're into plants and bothanics, I'd recommend Muséhagen next to the University of Bergen, or Arboretet which is a little south of the city center.

These are just some of my favorites :)

Thank you for a great video on Bergen. I am traveling there in a few months, and this was helpful. I'd love to see a video on budget accommodation in and around norway.

But, I do appreciate you sharing this video, as beautiful as what I have heard.

Not me starting to research Norway and Bergan in particular so I can visit when I’m older and potentially live there if I do actually love it there!
I’m already learning Norwegian so I’m ready haha!
Can’t wait for locals to find out I’m an Australian living there haha!

Alright, since I’m a local in Bergen, I know a lot about Bergenhus. (Thank you dad and cal!) I really want to experience the fjords. I usually take the funicular all the way up and hike up to Blåmannen, which is a bit long trip but the view is definitely worth it.

I just have to say that the bakery on Fløyen has some really good buns ;). Also, if you fancy a hike, there's a cabin called Brushytten that's open on Sundays that serves waffles, chocolate, and coffee that's only a short hike from the Fløyen funicular station :) .

I don't know if people would find it interesting, but one of the churches in Bergen has a cannon ball stuck in the wall. It was a war between the Netherlands and and England in 1665. Norway wanted to be neutral, but since Norway was a part of Denmark at that time, the Danish King decided to protect England while both English and Dutch ships were in Bergen. The English men were supposed to shoot the cannons towards other ships, but for some reason something happened that they accidentally shot it towards the church. The cannon ball is still stuck in the church. I thought it was a little interesting.
