it’s so difficult to find “eco friendly” products at major stores that are ACTUALLY eco friendly. it’s so irritating that a person trying to do right can so easily be tricked by these scummy marketing tactics.

Do we get a video explaining the answer?

Sorry for the basic question, I’m new to this! Can you make a video explaining the concept of “greenwashed” and some easy things to look for/be aware of on the packaging? Thank you!

As an environmental scientist, don’t forget to check the entire supply chain, including where all the components come from and how far they travelled. Just because something is “manufactured” locally doesn’t mean the component parts are locally sourced.

Sometimes the actual greener product (emphasis on greenER) are ones not even being marketed as green

i’ve learned to try and use things that say biodegradable not just recycled because just being recycled isn’t enough

Can you do a part 2 and also explain why they’re greenwashed or not?

Please do more of these!!💛 I see items in the store constantly that try to sound green on the packaging but don’t seem eco-friendly once I try to see what it’s actually made of. So I never buy them, lol. My pet peeve is that products don’t list what they’re made of, like an ingredient list. Does that make sense?😅

LOVE BEAUTY AND PLANET IS GREENWASHED? What am I gonna wash my hair with now. Do you recommend any eco friendly shampoos for dandruff

The most hated greenwashing tactic I often see is "RECYCLABLE" written on single-use plastic wear 💔

1. Greenwashing (plastic bottle, biodegradable liquid) 2. Recycled plastic, 3. Plastic free, 4. Greenwashing (plastic applicators), 5. Silicone, 6. Recycled plastic.

Okay, but that brand of tampons changed my life. Before I switched to them every period I had was so heavy and so painful that I would spend days totally bed ridden.
I'm talking overflowing a overnight pad in as little as 2. hours.
And now, I hardly ever notice them.

Please do one with FOOD! I see green packaging and this 'all natural' wording on foods that are.. naturaly natural but maybe not derived or brought to production in a sustainable way.

Ecocert is usually a good indication. Cosmetics cannot be judged by just label, you need all ingredients

Should you shop at target if your going zero waste?

GAME RULES🌟 If you think the item is green washed put a “❌” & if you think it’s truly eco friendly put a “✅”. GOOD LUCK EARTHLINGS

Greenwashing definition: The process of making false or misleading environmental claims to mislead customers. COMMENT your answers!💚✨

Does anyone have recommendations for good vegan hair wash/conditioner that smells good (sensory issues) and is affordable? I used the first brand listed because it was less expensive and had refills + recyclable bottles but am open to better alternatives!

1) Love, Beauty, & Planet- Not sure, but I’m going to say greenwashed. Is it inherently biodegradable or does it need an industrial process to biodegrade? Do we take into consideration the way shower water is treated at water processing plants?
2) Loofah- DEFINITELY greenwashed. “Recycled plastic” puh-leez
3) Plastic free deodorant- not greenwashed because plastic-free.
4) Tampons- greenwashed. BPA free doesn’t mean much, it’s still a plastic applicator with a plastic sleeve.
5) Stasher - not greenwashed. Infinitely reusable alternative to an otherwise wasteful but useful plastic product.
6) Floss- greenwashed. Recycled plastic means less if you’re going to throw it out, and even if you recycle it (I think there was a recycle logo on the package) most plastic doesn’t get recycled.
