I've taken and passed the A+ back when they were asking windows 3.1 and dos questions to the most current due to work requesting it. and I can tell you it went from being a joke with easy questions to now being much much more challenging and all for the better too since its more valuable. the exams can be studied for easily from tons of material available on YouTube. the new a+ are very fun with flash like questions where you move parts around and answer questions with virtual tasks in a router menu and or hard drive manager to create bit locker partitions and other cool scenarios. my work requires me to complete about 2 dozen certs a year. thankfully the refresher of certs are about 25% of the original questions to pass again.
