Good post. I figured it out after the video. The engineers likely put that design together due to the limited support on the shaft, or the coupler holding the shaft in the handle, if you have users using the screw driver fully extended. This video made me feel better about having the option of removing the shaft and installing the magnet to the point that the magnet can lock in.

I myself was disappointed when I open the package and found out I cannot remove the telescope .

The extension is not meant to be removed. It has a retaining ring on it for a reason (the thing he called an o-ring).

Design changes because stupids were loosing the bits into the handle ! Now the extension section is not supposed to come out therefore you cannot put bits directly into handle and possibly loose bits into handle.

Same issue with the extension, I'm unable to remove it, which prevents the screwdriver from fitting in the case.
