UPDATE: DJI has released O3 compatibility with the goggles 3 and controller 3 - so now you can fly any of the drones I mentioned with them.

Flying drones at a previous job was always so nail-biting because if we crashed, that was it. We got no aerial footage. I actually did throw a prop on my second flight but was able to solder and glue it back together. This was 10 years ago though... The point is, I like the idea of the Avata because it looks very durable. I hate being afraid to fly something for fear of it going splat. Thanks for the list. :)

Thanks for creating this much needed roadmap into FPV. As a camera drone pilot looking at the Avata 2, it’s also great to know the Googles 3 and Controller 3 can work with some long range and cinelift set-ups in case I want to upgrade!

Look, if you are serious about drones. Put together a freestyle fpv, use a kit if you don’t have experience. Start there. Try to get budget goggles and controller. You can practice some sim while building your drone. Don’t go for a DJI if you are serious. Because the money you spend there will for sure set you back and ultimately you will want to build something more custom. FPV means first person view, therefore if you are interested in FPV that means you want to fly freestyle or race or build a camera/cinematic drone. This all means, you want to build your drone custom and the quickest way to get up to speed is to build your first one. A kit is not a bad idea because it gets to most of the components you need to get started where as if you try to spec out your own, you will surely run into availability of parts issues.

If you want to do professional shooting. A DJI will not live to your expectations.

Finally if you have a lot of money to waste. Pick up several DJI drones and realize each time you want something else but DJI just doesn’t let you customize like you want. So just keep wasting money buying more prepackaged BS.

Goggles 3 are now compatible with O3 Air Unit. I've been controlling all my drones with the Goggles 3

EDIT: There's currently a bug with the O3 and Goggles 3 that is causing video to randomly drop out during flight. I've had it happen to me. As of Sept. 1, 2024 there hasn't been an update fixing it.

8:27 Red Kyte is a german brand and "zwei" is the german word for 2. The other drones from them have the same logic. So it is technically Red Kyte X2 or Red Kyte X3 and so on
