Jim Steinman's NOWHERE FAST by SMO from STREETS OF FIRE

This song is represented a lot on You Tube and I have been a fan of Jim Steinman's work since Meatloaf's "Bat Out Of Hell". Like the video created for "Original Sin" (See "Vampires Are Hot"), I made this in part to showcase another magnificent song uncut and at its full length. So, with introductions by Ry Cooder and a hometown gentleman who is now a movie icon, here it is, all six minutes PLUS... "Darlin', darlin'!"

Couple times a year, when I feel the need to be in another time and another place, I watch Streets of Fire. Never disappoints.

Great movie. Young up and coming actors, plus songs from the legendary Jim Steinman. RIP I knew right away this was Jim Steinman before reading the credits.

Nobody, and I mean nobody. Did it like Jim Steinman. You can pick out all the tropes, the chord progressions, the massive drum rolls, the chorus vocals, and everything else, but it doesn't make a damn of difference. He was the Verdi of Rock and Roll. And underneath it all were the lyrics. Revelling in paradox and contradiction, and in the process doing what real poetry does, and articulating feelings we can't put into words until someone does and we recognise them.

I read a comment that "Streets of Fire" was one of the best movies no one saw.

As someone born in 1990 who grew up watching Eddie & the Cruisers, The Warriors, the Outsiders, and everything else... coming across this just last year having known nothing about was an absolute delight, and yes as a 30 year old who watched it for the first time... it still holds up, it has an amazing feel, a unique concept, cast, and execution.. and a solidified place both in the story of america, as well as my own.

Many thanks. I was heckled by the director when it came out during my interview with Harrison Ford. I met Walter Hill when he got involved with "Alien" and THIS film helped create the PG-13 rating. I love this unique movie.
