Vikings wore helmets, so should you!
This is a brilliant advert for the Danish Road Safety Council by NewLand Film and &Co 2021.

Fun fact. The guy urging him to use a helmet has the name 'Hjalmar' - which means 'helmet-wearing warrior' 😂

As a Dane, this is exactly how our humor is

The dude that instantly laughed at him in helmet killed me dead

Typical underplayed and mellow Danish humor.

I remember when this came out.. As a Viking nerd it had me rolling on the floor at how well they did it and how much that made it carry over to modern day road safety.

It may be Svend who wears the trousers, but Mrs. Svend desides which pair 🤣🤣

The thing with this is that we have all already seen the trauma adverts; we already know why we should wear a helmet. This is more trying to show how silly people are when they're not wearing helmets. Especially when they're arguing against it.

Wait till he hears about how "Polle fra Snave" got his own movie, due to the popularity of the Polle ads in Denmark. I can recall yelling at my parents and sister " THERE IS A NEW POLLE ADD ON TV !" and everybody rushed in to see the add with me.

That's the best ad I've seen for wearing a helmet. I've been wearing bicycle helmets for over 40 years.

Every time I see this I know it happens but the guy laughing as he wears the helmet gets me every time.

I think the best argument I'be seen is still the one a great guy (the editor of a magazine I used to read) had in his Usenet signature back when that was the thing in the 90es. I don't know if he had come up with it, I'm sure he could have, but that doesn't matter:
"Bicyclists with helmets have something to protect."

This advert convinced me to go buy a helm for my e-bike.

I'm back on a visit just to tell you that I still watch this ad every now and then here on YouTube (as TV hasn't shown it for over a year). To me it's like a piece of good music that you have to hear again.

We, the vikings, loved our business trips, to England and other countries 😁
It was the good old days, where we travelled, to meet other people and exchange culture.
Cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰

Well done add. It was like a mother sending a child off on its way, you can go but only if you do what I say. My poor kids, how did they put up with me. Safety first!

My uncle is a retired old man & had a accident 2 weeks ago on his electric bike. Someone else rammed into him & he fell quite hard broke his pelvic area had to get some bolts inserted thru surgery. He is up & walking again now, thankfully. Says the only thing that saved him was his helmet.

fun fact. The kids name Hjalmar, origins from 'Helmet-carrier'

You should try to find an old Danish Beer Commercial, where a rather dull girl becomes much more tempting and inviting, the further down a man comes in his glass of beer!
