In this video, we talk about Son Goku from Dragon Ball / Z / Super, and just how he become so strong. Who he is as a person, as a warrior, his philosophy, and what his many battles against people like Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu, and Jiren really meant in the larger scale of things. Just what does strength even mean? What does Goku even want? Who is Goku?

my friends wanted me to make this video for like almost 2 years lol

enjoy losers

one thing I would like to add is that I forgot to mention that Goku's battle with Frieza also served as a way to show Goku that sometimes defeating an adversary wasn't enough to cause them to change their ways or redeem them, which is why he was trying to push Gohan into finishing off Cell right away etc. I could go into more detail but that is something I wish I added.

This Video is Literally the perfect summary of Goku’s life and what he has been trying to achieve.

How such a “simple and basic story” can have such a misunderstood main character is something I will never understand.

Jiren is the literal embodiment of "there's nothing more dangerous than a man with nothing left to lose"

You are one of the few people on this Earth who actually understands the themes underlying the story of Dragon Ball... I thank you for continuing to expand and make videos on subjects like this. Understanding Goku is understanding the idea of the story.

"He doesn't want to, nor can he ever obtain absolute strength. For that is his wish"

That ending gave me goosebumps

This is probably the best and most accurate analysis on Goku, hell on anything DB on YT. It’s nice to see someone who actually understands the themes of the story and Goku as character. Great vid

Huh... that explains why Goku acted the way he did in the Moro arc.

He fought Moro on Earth the first time because there was no choice, Moro was going to absorb everything in his greed. Goku was forced to fight alone and without help, because even if everyone else combined they would not be able to even touch Moro; that’s why Goku got frustrated, not that he was losing, but that he was the last line of defense. Even Vegeta alone wasn’t enough even with his techniques. When Merus stepped in and sacrificed his angel form to aid Goku, that was the help Goku needed, and he perfected Ultra Instinct. Goku thought that shattering Moro’s pride and ability would be enough to stop him from doing bad, but that backfired because Moro was truly evil. Moro doesn’t care about strength or training or anything like that, so when Goku questions Moro about whether or not Moro ever trained the answer disappointed him. It was also fitting that Goku never perfected Ultra Instinct without the help of Merus, and would have ultimately lost against Moro without everyone and Uub giving their energy to Goku.

Goku’s character arc and DBZ in general is all about finding your place in society, and using your strength to defend those who cannot defend themselves; in return, in those moments where you have no strength, those same people can step in and save you from the brink of total annihilation.

Moro stole energy and spat in the face of anyone who ever helped or supported him, and he became a monster as a result. Goku never steals energy, and only uses what is freely given to him by everyone else; in turn, Goku trains and becomes strong to be worthy of that generosity and assistance. The end result is that Goku is given the power to surpass everyone.

I guess Super Goku was never dumb. What he was was free of worries of the future. Together, Earth as a whole would come together and defeat whatever problems came their way, even non-fighters like Bulma lending their expertise where fists alone would fail. A lack of worry and anxiety leads to a lack of desire and focus, which gives off the impression that they just don’t think things through. The reality, however, is very different; Goku was always confident that everyone working together would always succeed over whatever threat came their way.

He went from an orphan living alone in the woods to a central figure in a community of like-minded individuals, all working together for the benefit of everyone. From a hermit to a functioning member of society. That’s actually very beautiful ☺️

"But you never fought to kill or even to win. Only to test your limits and become the strongest you could possibly be. You showed mercy to everyone even your fiercest enemies - _even me_ - as if you knew one day I would possess this tiny sliver of a soul. How can a Saiyan fight with such power and the same time be so _gentle_ ? It makes me angry just thinking about it, but perhaps it's my anger that's made me blind to the truth for so long: I see it now. I fought to push down others, *you only fight to push yourself*

Hang in there, Kakarot. You are number one"

What I’ve learned from seeing some criticisms of dragon ball is that some people really just don’t know how to read. I’m not acting like Toriyama is the shakesphere of manga or anything like that I’m just saying he’s a lot better than some people give him credit for

I wish more people used critical thinking when watching anime because they'd find that these shows are works of art and much more deep than what you see at face value.

Today seth did something I never thought possible. He made me love dragonball even more. The series I grew up with. The reason why I jumped into anime head first in the late 90s/ early 2000s. This video is beautiful. Amazing. And brings a tear to my eye. This highlight goku as a character sooo well it shouldn't even be legal. Truly greatness right here peeps

Goku’s character arc throughout the saiyan and namek sagas is perfectly encapsulated by the line “I’m a saiyan, from Earth”

Latest Super chapter adds to the theme of Nature you were talking about. He thought his nature was just being a Saiyan but now he’s heard his father’s voice, his nature isn’t just “a Saiyan” it’s also son of Bardock as well.
