I play Forbidden Stars every weekend with the boys. The consensus in our group is that this is probably the best area control game ever (and we play a lot of are control)! It is a tough learn with some unintuitive rules, but once you have it down everything works together so well. The rules on legal advance paths in particular is worth paying some extra attention to. Hope you love it as much as I do! Quack on

Forbidden stars was one of my Grail games, and I was extremely lucky to get it as a lot set for an amazing price. The gameplay does not disappoint.
As for another milestone game there is always Star Wars Queens Gambit.

It's an amazing game with one of the best action selection mechanisms. It's also a game that forces the players to actively push forward to win. You don't simply sit in your corner of the universe earning VP for turtling.

Some of the tokens are hidden information. So, with something like this that's out-of-print with no chance of being reprinted, you really should get coin capsules to protect them.

I played and liked some of the 40k games, namely Dawn of War and Mechanicus. And, similarly, this is the kind of thing I’d wanna get into instead of the main tactics game.

And, besides looking forward to gameplay of Forbidden Stars, I love the Tau and Necrons, so I hope there will be a future vid on Galaxy in Flames eventually, too.

Also, given that FFG lost the GW license, it sure makes the name all the more fitting! 😹

If you enjoy this or even not, I believe blackstone fortress is also pretty amazing. Also heard from my 40k friends they are discontinuing it maybe, so go grab it now

FS is a great great game!
But some advice:
1) it can be long, especially the first few games and especially 4 players.
2) it's excellent as a 2-3 player game.
3) The designer, Samuel Bailey, has said the Ultramarines should start with a Bastion in play, for balance purposes.
4) The order system is mind-blowing and mind-crushing, it takes a few rounds to understand its consequences, which can be brutal. So EXPECT to do misplays, and just focus on it being a learning game.
5) Download a good summary from BGG, like the one by Univeral Head.
6) Review the Errata + FAQ file, some cards are wrong.
7) Ask all players to watch a how-to-play video BEFOREHAND. There's a decent 20mins one.

Looking forward to both your thoughts after a few plays (NOT just after the learning game, which can be long and brutal if orders are INEVITABLY misplayed)

Just stumbled on "The Game Garage" channel. Awesome father son team bringing a unique dynamic to the space. Could be worth a look for a featured channel as you highlight smaller creators.
