Fun fact: That drowning animation as banjo trying to swimming up is actually his last breath flailing to get air. Even if his air meter is 0, he'll try to swim up a bit for like 1-2 seconds. If he reaches to the surface, he gains back all 6 of his air meter even at 0.

It's interesting how if Banjo runs out of health while in the water, he acts like he's drowning. And if he runs out of health on land, but falls into the water during the death cutscene, he then acts like he's drowning. Wouldn't his lifeless body just stay lifeless as it falls into the water and not act like it's drowning?
