Spl iron for mastering or gml. On my vocal bus, I like 1176 into a la2a or tube tech cl1b or a distressor.

I love the Audioscape La2a because it's super easy to track with and it brings up the upper mids on vocals in a cool way. The Cl1b is amazing too. I find the attack / release controls can shape things with short release times (pluck synths, muted guitars) in a way that plugins can't. Hard to make the Cl1b sound bad although it's so flexible.

EQ boost into compressor to get more attack.

"quieter is now louder" isn't a good thing.
Colourations sounds a lot more forthright in the preamp and a lot better too.
Comps are overrated
