I would love to use cheese yarn to crochet a cow plush, it would be precious, if a bit itchy, probably dont give it to a child, i would get a kick out of knowing its made of milk tho

I made casein plastic today. It was cool. Gotta wait for tomorrow or the next day for it dry though. I love milk :)

5th grade science teacher; “back in the day” people made buttons from milk. Pretty cool AND durable! I loved that teacher!

Homemade Petrie dish: Take a lid from a jar and a pack of jello; mix jello and pour into the lid, cover with Saran Wrap, allow to rest/set. Use notecards to label what each lid contains, i.e. fingernail from Joe, bathroom floor, classroom door, etc.

We cut our fingernails and placed them in the jello-Petrie dish. We also took q-tips and swabbed 3 places in the school that we thought (hypothesized) would have the most germs. One pack of jello is more than enough to make multiple Petrie dishes; cut the tips off the q-tips and place in lid. CLEAN YOUR SCISSORS BETWEEN CUTTINGS so you don’t cross contaminate your samples. Cover lids with Saran Wrap. Label your notecards and place them under the corresponding lid. Store lids in a dry area with regular light (nothing fancy and no direct sunlight…unless you’re conducting an experiment on how the Petrie samples react in different light sources). Check on your samples every week but DO NOT remove the protective Saran Wrap. Finally: be amazed at how gross and interesting the environment around you is and what you come in contact with everyday. We kept detailed scientific journals that included the data, written descriptions of what we saw happening in the lids, and we drew simple pictures of the growths that were being produced in our jello-Petrie lids (we labeled the picture drawings’ contents i.e. q-tip, fingernail, yellowish germ/growth, greenish germ/growth, etc.).

We did so many creative projects in our 5th grade science class! The entire class enjoyed every single minute of each lesson!

Thank you Mrs. Shoemake for being such a wonderful teacher! ❤ 🤓

Since this is a natural fiber, I would hope this is breathable.

wait you said it's soluble in an alkaline solution, does the formaldehyde chemically change it so that's no longer the case? i would hate to wash my sweater only for the detergent to just make my whole sweater dissolve

I watched this while aggressively crunching a biscuit, for once I’m glad people copied out exactly what was said in the video

As someone allergy to casein... nothing. I would make nothing out of milk yarn.

Put them next to each other under a ‘Blacklight’, take a RAW picture and measure their luminance. Might be an additional way to determine reflectivity.

Also put them under RGB lights and see how well they reflect different colors.
