Ok I shaved my head, how long does it take for the muscles and height benefits to kick in?

I started shaving my head in my early twenties and never went back. Everyone should try it at one point in their life; the first time it felt like taking off a pair of shoes I'd been wearing for 20 years. It felt great.

I just shaved my head for the first time three days ago. I went full no guard and just cut it all off. Everyone has been complimentary which I was surprised at. I actually suit it. The most important thing is that you two are totally right, now that I’ve shaved my head, I don’t care about it anymore, and that’s something other people can tell. Objectively I’ll be less attractive to certain women physically, but I’ll be more attractive to a lot more women based on the fact they can see I’m not a guy who’s really bothered about ultimately insignificant things like hair. Overall I’m pleased. Don’t get me wrong, if I could I’d have my full head of hair back, but that’s not an option. The best I can do is just be comfortable and happy, that’s the most important thing. People are going to judge your appearance no matter if you have hair or not. Now I’m just going to focus on being the best version of me I can, and that, from now on...is bald!

I just had my haircut at home while the global epidemic is still happening. Now I match my profile pic again and I love that. Being bald is a visual and symbolical sign that one's willing to start from a clean slate. With less focus on hair, one can focus on one's lifestyle, environment, mindset, and physique. That reminds me. I gotta start training again despite the epidemic.

Antonio and Ihsaan, many thanks for your service in the military. Also, Antonio, I hope that you were a Transformers fan growing up because the voice of Optimus Prime himself had a brother who also served in the Corps. Plus, he was imitating his late brother as he auditioned for Optimus back in the 80's and that got him the role. In a sense, the Marine Corps helped bring Optimus Prime into pop culture. Every Marine living today must know this.

I’m a barber and there are some things to consider before shaving your head bald in my opinion.
1. Age
2. Fitness
3. Proportions
4. Head/face shape
5. Skin tone
6. Topography of the scalp

Age: A young man can shave his head and may or may not like it. He may not like it because his face may lack the lines of maturity that come with age. If he’s lucky enough to be able grow facial hair this might help. Glasses with contrasting frames can too.

Fitness: The fitter you are the better it will look.

Proportions: A tall guy with a small head or a short guy with a big round one will not look their with a shaved head.

Head/face shape: a square and oval shape are best suited to head shaving. Glasses and facial hair are great accessories to give the optical illusion of a more appealing shape.

Skin tone: The darker the skin tone is, the better the shaved head will look. If you tan well then you’ll be lucky too. Those who tan little or not at all will have to see, they can find a way to offset the paleness of their skin through facial hair, glasses and clothing choices.

Topography of the scalp: There are men who have perfect skulls and beautiful scalps. And then there are those that don’t. They may look fit, yet have a muscled or a fatty scalp. This can lead to hills and dales or even sausage-like rolls. Others may have scars from accidents or surgeries and then there are moles and birthmarks too. It is up to the guy to decide whether or not he wants to own it or not.

My advice for someone wanting to shave, but is hesitant, is to go short in stages and to get used to the shorter lengths. Give each a few weeks then go one step shorter. It will be easier to get used to and won’t be as obvious for friends and family. Take it down as short as you feel comfortable with. If that means shaved - perfect; if that means a short crewcut - perfect too. If nothing works, maybe a shaved head is not or not yet your style. That’s okay too. Talk to your dermatologist or barber/stylist and ask for advice. They can tell you things about your scalp that you might have never known.

One of the biggest things I quickly learnt after shaving my head for the first time was that my hair or my physical appearance is seperate from who I am as a person. I used to be very self conscious about the most mundane things but after few weeks of shaving my hair I kind of just stopped caring about those things.

Been having a buzzcut ever since I worked on board a ship. Since then I never changed my hairstyle and I'm loving it. Its true that once you've gone past the vanity of it all you're more focused on your career and focused on building your future. Not to mention less time on styling and more on getting your uniform done and clean. Perfect when you need to get to work as fast as possible.

I just shaved my hair. They don't talk how comfortable and fresh it feels. It really feels amazing. Now I need to get a little tan up there. It looks kind a white....

I cut my hair with the clippers without a guard so I’m bald. Every week I cut my hair and I feel brand new every week!

Just make sure to always wear hats outside if your bald/ultra short buzz cut. UV rays from the sun will easily cause age/sun spots/even melanoma on the scalp. The scalp skin is SO MUCH thinner and more sensitive to sunlight UV & pigmentation than even the face!!! Ideally full-brimmed sun hats in the sun, caps on even grey days as UV is still very much present. Even if you're a white-collar / suit & tie guy you still need to wear a hat commuting. Just get a nice one like a panama hat or so. Also, if your moisturizing your head with a lotion already, make it one with good UV blocking properties. I guess Black guys don't have to really worry about this, but all fair-skinned individuals definitely do. This is very important info for health

Started loosing my hair when I was 18 years old. Almost bold on top before 20. Been trimming it down as close as possible twice a week now for a couple of years + experimenting with both a full beard or a stubble. Bald and proud! Totally agree about the need to have some sort of fascial hair when you have a short haircut/no hair. Works well with my glasses too!

You guys gave me the strength to bite the bullet and just do it. And you were right: I don't have to worry anymore, I can focus elsewhere now. I feel confidant, I look good, and most importantly, I like it. Don't be scared guy, go for it.
