Apparently, mexicans and chinese have a lot in common. I’m mexican and my parents have NEVER said something like that in their life. My parents told me that they were the only ones who will be honest with me. Everyone else is just trying to be nice and/or make me feel better so that I'll just keep embarrassing myself.
So now Im suspicious of any compliments and am nervous around people who are nice to me.
I just...cannot even my upbringing sometimes.
