Ryzen 9 3950X at 4.3Ghz on All Cores! RX 5500 Released and more!

Let’s get started with AMD. their delayed, but still, upcoming 3950X is the most impressive CPU the company has announced for the mainstream platform. And while it was delayed for a reason or another, we now have an idea of how good it overclocks.

So stock speeds put the 3950x at 4.7Ghz boost, now of course, this is usually only achieved on one or 2 cores with the rest of them hanging out much lower. But how fast would it perform with an all-core overclock. Well, gigabyte released a Ryzen 9 3950x overclocking guide and it looks like this CPU will be the reigning champion, towering not only over intel’s mainstream CPU's, but also over their High-end desktop chips.

Running Cinebench R15 at stock speeds, the 3950X achieves 3932 points. That’s already close to double the performance of Intel’s upcoming 9900KS which is basically a 9900k overclocked to 5ghz on all cores and it beats the 9980xe stock by about 200 points. In the overclocking guide, Gigabyte expects most 3950x to reach 4.3Ghz on all cores. At these clocks, the chip now reaches 4384 points. This score is about 4 to 500 points higher than intel’s flagship 18 core 9980Xe. Now of course, the 9980XE can be overclocked too, but on the blue team, the heat really starts to become a problem. For example, overclock 3d had their chip at 4.4Ghz and was already struggling to keep their temperatures in check with a similar cooling solution than Gigabyte used for the 3950x. That’s a 360 AIO in case you were wondering. And even then, when overclocked, the 3950X beat the 9980XE by close to 200 points.

Intel boss A: AMD is a huge Problem!
Intel boss B: No problem, we just cut the price in half!
Intel Boss A: What happens if that is not enough to be competitive?
Intel Boss B: We just cut the price in half again!
Intel Boss A: But do we still make money with that?
Intel Boss B: Of course, you can't imagine how overpriced our chips were!

I'm happy with my GTX 1660 Ti, but I wish the best in the world for RADEON NAVI series - coming from a guy who used my beloved RX460 for 3 years.

I really hope the Nvidia news is true. I was going to upgrade my 1080 for a 2080 super, but I'll wait if they have a new one coming a few months away. As for AMD and Intel next year, I am not going to wait for them. Judging by the lack of news, I doubt they would release their GPUS before May 2020.

ROFLMAO, AMD just pulled an Intel on Intel. They’ve been holding this in the bag until Intel announced their incoming chips AND price cuts, so that they could come in on the back end and take their thunder, just like Intel used to do them over and over again LOL 🤣🤣

We need Intel. We need competition. Cpu market right now is great. Ram market is good. You can always can get deals on psus, mtbs and cases. Whilst Gpu prices are rediculouse. It is great to see rx 5500 8 gb especially if it cost around €160 ±20. Though I'm holding on to my money-vote until there is a true sub €300 card.

besides the RX 5500 (22CU), there is still space for at least 2 more GPU between that and RX 5700 (36CU), possibly 3, RX5500 XT, RX5600 and RX5600XT, to pair against GTX 1650 through GTX1660 Ti.

So I bought an RX 480 three years ago for ~$200 and now I can upgrade to the 5500 and get a whole 12% performance boost for...just under $200?

my 3900x is limited by this little msi b450 itx board still waiting on a decent itx board, kinda hoping b550 to drop soon and not be $300 for a itx board .-.

Best compliment I can think of paying you is to Subscribe!
P.S. Do you think the prices on 580s will drop? Find it weird they compare it to the 480

No big deal. Did 4.35 GHZ no sweat on my 3900X with a good AIO, the Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme 280mm.
