How to change the alternator on a 1989 1990 1991 Prelude ( third generation)

This video will show you how to safely remove your alternator. the 12 mm tensioning nut is the nut you will turn clockwise to tighten the alternator belt once the new alternator is installed. Remember to always remove the ground cable from the battery first.

On my 1989 Prelude, upper pivot bolt was a 15mm. Could not use 10mm deep socket on the lower pivot bolt unless exhaust heat shield was removed to facilitate clearance of socket head.
Rear 3 nuts on OEM alternator shield can be removed using an 8MM wrench giving more access to lower bolt.
