An Arizona man spent 17 days in jail after being mistaken for a burglary suspect. Michael Lowe was walking through a Texas airport terminal waiting to board his flight when another passenger allegedly stole jewelry from a duty-free kiosk. According to a lawsuit, American Airlines only handed over Lowe's name when police asked for a list of passengers that may fit the suspect's description. That resulted in him spending 17 days in jail for a crime he did not commit.

How in hell, in this age of CCTV, does that poor man get mistaken for a younger shaven headed man?!?
I hope he gets a lot of compensation not only from the idiots at the airline who gave his details but also the keystone cops who it seems didn't wipe their glasses while looking at the security footage.

They look nothing alike. He definitely has a strong case.

The audacity of that airline is mind boggling. They need to admit their wrong doing because they’re only making themselves look worse.

The fact that the cops arrested him based on the name an airlines gave them is crazy. But Thankfullu they figured it out after seventeen days. Others have served five, ten? Even twenty years for crimes others committed. I can't imagine how helpless that would feel.

Hope he gets a hefty settlement. How lazy does the law enforcement have to be? My 5yr old child could tell the difference!! Airlines but mostly law enforcement both need to be held accountable!!

After Any wrongful arrest, there should be a lawsuit immediately and the police officers should be suspended. Especially in cases like this where they look nothing alike.

So the police didn’t realize that it’s not the same guy??? No investigation? No finger print?

Why America’s justice system is corrupted as this low level? It’s like no professional people in this field. I think it’s the worst in “developed” countries

Get rich overnight. Sue the airline as well as the cops. Both of these shall be held responsible for his wrongful arrest.

This happens much more often than most know. Wrong people have been on death row, even. Scary to think about

As someone who has never been to jail/prison, this is a fear of mines. Mistaken identity. There is literally nothing you can do in the moment but to go to jail, and then fight the case. Thats very traumatizing smh I hope they pay him well.
