I’m a CFII, SEL, MEL, FE, 2500+ hours and I still enjoy each of these vids. Yes, a good pilot is always learning and seeking knowledge and new techniques. Thanks for the vid.

Jason, I am preparing for my IFR Ride in Canada. I love the idea of reviewing the Approach Plate before you get in the a/c. In will do this (and also my departure plate) with my DPE for sure! Thank you.

I noticed that you did not brief the plate's date, I think that's also a good practice to make sure you have a valid plate. Thanks for the video as usual, helpful and informative. Happy flying

Great information! I learned to make the annotations on the God's-eye view while flying with paper charts in the AF years ago. With the transition to Foreflight, I find myself zoomed in on the approach and wasting time scrolling down to check the altitude restrictions on the stadium view at just the wrong time. Thanks for helping me to renew some of the old habit patterns. Always great tips!

ANOTHER awesome video. Thanks Jason. I took your IFR CHECK RIDE course and - of course - passed thanks to the EXCEPTIONAL content and easy to follow methods. I still use your methods to keep my approaches fresh and briefed in (always hectic) Los Angeles air space. I cannot recommend your teaching videos and books enough. And even though you're flying "mach zero", you're still awesome, dude! (You would've been an amazing jockey)

Great to meet you today at the AOPA fly-in. Glad the weather cleared up for a few hours. - Please consider doing a weather series that covers practical IFR flying (navigating thunderstorms, warm fronts, cold fronts) in different geographies in the US. Something like the Richard Collins seasons series, but more up to date.

Does Foreflight save the annotations until they're changed? So you could set that up and always have it for your frequently used airports?

I was always taught to brief the valid dates of the plate first

So what if your instructor gives you your approach 10 minutes away from the airport. I’ve always found this frustrating and confusing and leaves me a little time to do anything.

Maybe it isn't important if you are using the digital version of the approach plate. Still, you should always be in the habit to ensure the the effective dates of the document are still valid to be used.

I’ve only flown a handful of times but I’m determined to learn as much as possible just in case I end up in control of one some day. 🤣😂

How do you know if the IFR charts you download from the web are up to date (without going into payware) ? because i've seen some frequencies that have changed over time

Hi Jason! As always, great vids and content. Not sure if you remember me, but I am now interested in obtaining my instrument rating; finally! I currently own a share in an airplane and would like to start preparing and training for my instrument rating. What are the current requirements, and what in your opinion would be the estimated cost to me to take my checkride? I know the cost could vary, but I’m looking for an average cost so I can plan funding. Thank you in advance for your time! Ray

If your coming in IFR the order of the freqs will like be Approach, ATIS, Approach, Twr (first contact include information "blah blah") and keep Approach in stby for missed.

Are there any companies that Finance Flight lessons? I would like to just have a lesson everyweek and get it done but can be a drain on the family resources
