I've only one gopro since 2015 and it's Hero4 black, now i got a Dji Om4 for it and i don't even need a newer model gopro anymore.

There's a blinking red light on the front when recording. Maybe the one you got was busted?

I don't own an action cam yet but I want to get one to film atv trips with my dad, I was looking for the best gopro I can get into for under or around 200 bucks. preferably less but i am willing to go that high. what would you suggest as I know nothing much about them?

Hmm interesting. I just ordered Akaso V50 Pro for 86€. I did check local used cameras and GoPros, but only in near 100€ price was Hero 4 Silvers, around 90-120€, so no thanks.
