I've got the same or similar Bosch planer. I'm always splitting wood when at the end of a run, so thx for the slowing down tip.

Brilliant video, thanks for sharing, I’m a painter and decorator myself and have had to do this a fair bit myself and STILL I’ve learned a couple of new tips from this

I use a Stanley smoothing plane, sharp, and spokeshave at bottom, power plane doesn't travel to the end without removing the door. I have whipped my kneecap off using planer down the ends of doors..slips off, be careful.. first accident in 30 years of machining so I sold it at car boot sale

Pump up airbags are also great for doors

literally 10 mins before I opened this up I was doing the same thing on a job(next door whilst they are away). I trimmed up some h/board covered doors that have evidently been "out of shape " for some time. Ten mins and all doors fitting precisely. I have a cordless and two Dewalt corded monsters. As you say, could not do without 'em. Bob (Albion Decoration. Weston super Mare)

I always find a belt sander is good for the doors as well.😊😊

Block plane is good, if tuned up properly.

Agree, but a cordless one is even better.

Hi. Got a big job in a basement. Previously painted Brick Walls and ceilings are still a bit wet and damp. Porous still as well where we have scraped flakey paint off.

What can I use to seal them? Help!

Didn't realise how out of true mine was til I took a gouge out of a counter top and had to sand the whole thing 😵‍💫

Chances are, you'll get "planer ripple" at some point using an electric planer, sometimes even on every door you do. So you will still need a hand plane to smooth the surface out afterwards. I only use an electric planer if I need to hog off quite a lot of depth. Usually it's just a smoothing plane (no 4 1/2) and maybe a jack (no 5). Electric planers have their place, but I would caution any first-timers that as a chippie of 25 years I view them as one of the most dangerous power tools we use.

As a decorator myself I wouldn’t get involved with that it’s a chippies problem 👊🏻
