You are a life saver. Apparently my disposal was jammed because manually turning the motor with the hex wrench did the trick. Thanks a ton!!! Your new subscriber 🙌

Sponsored by Home Depot because this is a simple project that always takes at least 3 trips to the store.

When doing work on plumbing like that I always grab a flashlight to shine through the back side of the pipe. That way you can watch the P trap fill up, or any bubles that form from leaks!

I’ve done this several times for friends, luckily saved them a ton of money and it’s a good “yeah, I did that “ project!

Very good instructional video! Nice and clear instructions! Just installed this same Glacier Bay Max and all went very well, no leaks. Replaced a prior off-brand disposal that started leaking after 10 years. Recommend using this time to remove hoses and pipes and flush out insides (took them outside to use the garden hose power wash) and you will have nice clean throughput. My undersink also had a water filtration system, so it was crowded to work on. Full install and cleanup time was just over 1 hour. Great video, it helped me avoid mistakes! thank you!

Hey Brad, thanks for the video. So most dishwasher drain pipes require a high-loop (basically loop the hose behind the disposal to be higher than the sink). This helps to prevent backwash from the disposal back into the dishwasher drain hose.

Were it not for this video, I would have not had any idea what I was attempting to do. But, by follow these simple instructions it was fairly straightforward with little to no frustration at all.

I've replaced my garbage disposal twice before....and was about to replace it for the third time when I saw this and learned that I might be able to loosen it manually with the hex wrench :|

What a fantastic tip and huge money/time saver! Thanks so much for just the first 1 1/2 minutes of this video!

You'd be surprised how many people jump right into a repair like this without checking the obvious things like jamming or the breaker. Even though we don't do plumbing we've had a number of service calls for small things that can be done in minutes with no repair or trade knowledge required. That said we also get a lot of calls about replacing water damaged sink bases from improperly installed disposals so thank you for posting this! 🙏

Have carried (at least) one of those offset wrenches in my tool pouch for over 30 years. Invaluable tool to have on service calls. Wish they all had that. A real PITA to unclog the ones that don't. And in my over 30 years of maintenance work, the #1 thing I've dug out of clogged disposals: aluminum soda can pop top tabs. Magnet is a good idea, but won't stop those. Why people take them off the cans is beyond me. But, it helps keeps me in business! LoL. Enjoy your videos!

Thank you for this video. I've done this replacement myself and appreciate your thorough explanation of this task. Anyone needing to do this would benefit greatly from this video.👍

Excellent video, Brad. I've been loving your home renovation, bathroom and kitchen projects. Another thing to look out for is if your disposal is vibrating, one of the teeth in it could be stuck. Sometimes a small piece of metal or even a bone can get lodged under the teeth and cause the disposal to be out of balance. This happened to ours a few months ago and I had to take a flat head screwdriver to free it up. The teeth on ours spin on their own and are attached with a single screw. I'm not quite sure how I figured this out. It acted like there was something stuck in the disposal causing the vibration.

I literally shouted at my screen “Don’t use the ratcheting pex cutter!!!” 😂😂 and now we all know why 👍🏻😂

I really appreciate it when you show people what not to do in a DIY as it helps us to not make those mistakes, and also proves that even we can do it as we are sure to make mistakes as well and that shouldn't be why we shouldn't try. I know I am like that, I know that I am sure to make at least one mistake in any of my DIYs

When you mentioned at the beginning about something important to not miss, I knew immediately that you were talking about that plug for the dishwasher drain.
