Brian cox is going to be one of those names in the future that scientists and just people in general talk about being inspired by. As a fairly.. uh, not young guy anymore, he still makes me feel child like glee when discussing the stars.

Brian is such a humble man, yet excellent at communicating his thoughts on physics without doing so in a condescending manner.

so good, I like how on top of being a great Astro Physicist Brian Cox is also a great hymn singer Fun fact all these ominous, soothing BG hymns you hear in his shorts are sung by him, 's truly remarkable.

And what happened to the hole left in Earth left after the Collision? And what / where is the hole today as we know it?

We think it is what we should focus on

What would be the duration of the collision? How much time would somebody have from the time you see a small dot in the sky to impact?

I think it's really rare that two planets collide and thus why earth is so unique with its molten core

Can you even imagine what that collision was like? My brain cant even begin to put such an impact into perspective. The earth was most molten at this point correct? I just cant picture what would happen close up, its like trying to imagine the center of a star.

I like listening to him talk. It’s always truly cool facts and he clearly has a passion for the knowledge.

what isn't mentioned is the other planet's core was absorbed by Earth, so that the Moon is mostly crustal material. What core it does have is pulled toward the Earth, making it off-center, because it is tidally locked (the same hemisphere faces the Earth.)

Man, could you imagine earth with rings? It would be so cool for us to see a planet in the sky every day

Imagine how different life would be had that planet not crashed into earth. How different human society would be, with them having possibly seen Theia and made their own legends about it.

I never understood this theory. If this created a ring around Earth that coalesced into a moon then why do other planets still have rings? They also say that this collision is what caused Earth's rotation. If so, then where did all the other planets get their rotation?
