I like this guy. I like to listen to him, he has a pleasant voice. He is of course very smart, and he is handsome...

I love the line, "our current laws of physics.". I love that human understanding may be infinite.

Love Professor Cox. Stimulation for your grey matter!

It's interesting that he says "we should see a more advanced civilisation's fingerprints throughout the galaxy", perhaps we do but we just consider those fingerprints as fundamental laws of nature.

There's an excellent upload that better explains this on the Quins Ideas channel based on the 3 body problem series.

A very optimistic video, but now as an old man of 74 I feel that humanity is just re-arranging the chairs on Titanic earth instead of looking after our tiny fragile planet.

What if humans have been in universes many times before and just keep getting killed off every few billion years?

I Say We have had Science at Least a Millions Years. This is Highlighted by the Invention or the Application of Science to Create the Axe, Hammer, Wheel, Boat.

But Professor Cox is Talking about the Acceleration of Science over the Last Five Hundred Years.
However Our Early Science Efforts were Essential to the Modern Science.

I Say Maybe to Professor Cox's Explanation, Reduction of Life on Earth.

If intelligent life visited Earth today they would take one look at the leaders of our world and leave in a hurry due to their ineptitude and willingness to start wars and never learning from past history

Does that mean that mars may have been habitable like earth is now?

We have had science for 500 years? What did the Greeks and the Egyptians do 3000 years ago? It's the oddest thing I've heard prof. Cox state ever.
And.... Everything is compared to 'our earth', in essence still putting earth in centre of the universe. Which in a way is logical since the universe (that could be infinite in every direction) is measured with the earth as starting point.

We are the aliens we are looking for we just haven't taken that form we have to evolve beyond biology

I always groan when the hosts utter a 'uh huh' ... as if they understand and acknowledge what Brian Cox just said... it's so obvious they have no idea....

Talk about a waste of time. Trying to explain the complexity of the universe to Joe Rogan? Brian would have been better off talking to a squirrel.

Nooo. we have had science since about 3000 BC. not in the last 500 years. Greater minds have walked the Earth than you my boy in that time. PS we know that Yellow Stars like ours probably wont form a back hole but just become Neutron Stars. But what I know?

Im a fan of Professoe Cox, but we will not make it to Mars much less colonize it. We can barely maintain the international space station

What facts? The fermi paradox is a fact now? We don´t know much facts about the universe anyway. Poorly chosen title.

Quite a bit of animation for a "scientific" subject.
