I got this conversation with astarion re: me sleeping with a different character, but I chose him instead. So when he refuses to be poly, I said “okay then I choose you” and the way he’s so SHOCKED. I’m pretty sure he asks if you’re sure, like there’s no way someone would choose him over all these other people he views as more capable and deserving of love

Neil’s deliveries of his lines were absolutely amazing. It’s like, you can hear that arrogant, confident vampire boy while simultaneously hearing a man who wants to be loved and hates being used to heart break. He’s a hard romance, for sure, especially if your play style is the complete opposite of who he is, but he’s just worth it to me 😭

I think he is 100% protecting his own heart here. He starts out using you, but i think at this point he is falling for you and- if he were truly focused on his plan to secure protection- he would try harder to persuade you to stay with him. But maybe that feels like begging for you to love him, so he plays the cool guy, says you mustn't break someone else's heart by dividing your affection.

But what about Halsin? I think there he is now desparate to keep you, because he has confessed to you and fully put his heart in your hands. I think he fears losing you because he lured you in with sex and now that he isn't providing that... Well maybe you will stay if he lets you have Halsin on the side.

His heart has been so mishandled for so long, i think it's his own heart that he knows to be so fragile.

Even if my end goal I'd to romance someone else, I'll always romance Astarion, get his confession scene with 80 approval and tell him I'd be his friend. Then I'll go and romance the othe companion. Its a lot less heartbreaking and he's actually OK with it.
