One of my favorite April Fool's gimmicks was when ThinkGeek would make up a bunch of fake products (complete with "in action" videos), and then sometimes turn one of them into a real product when customers expressed enough interest (such as the Tauntaun sleeping bag complete with lightsaber zipper pull).

Pretty sure you mentioned this in the previous vid but in 98, 14 year old me and my friends fell so hard for the Akuma in Resident Evil 2. We even managed the 7th all knife run and fought Tyrant so many times we learned to avoid the unavoidable claw swipe at the beginning of that fight

My favorite april fools joke this year was the new game mode in rocket league. Every car had 3 wheels instead of 4 and every time you'd try to turn your car would just flip over

The Yakuza Like a Dragon prank should be mentioned because it literally changed the course of development!

Devs out out a gameplay trailer showing turn based combat expecting to be like ha ha april fools...and then reaction to it was so positive they literally scrapped their entire brawler combat system and hurried to develop the turn based gameplay that we got. Not bad for a prank!

Also: totally would get strobimg hair because that would be amazing.

The one that got me really excited and completely crushed me was the Mushroom Kingdom Hearts ad in the Game Informer magazine. If there ever was a crossover that would have been mind-blowing it would have been Mushroom Kingdom Hearts. It would be Kingdom Hearts in the Nintendo-Verse. It truly has been heart breaking that it hasn't happened. At least Sora is in Smash Bros, not the best consolation but its a step in the right direction for getting a Mushroom Kingdom Hearts.
