You're several years too late for me! But anyone else, definitely listen to this guy. I should have kept my unused cards open.

I just had our credit card company cancel our cards with no notification due to not using them.

Eventually, your issuer will close your account anyway due to years of inactivity (some won't but most do) which will still negatively affect your score. Your best option is to force yourself to use that account every once in a while (1-2 times per year) so they don't close your account due to inactivity even if it's not the best deal for your purchase. Do this of course only after you make sure youre not paying any annual fees!

I had 750 credit score in my early 20s then I decided to cancel all my unused cards because I wanted to buy a car. My credit score went down so low so quick I couldn’t get my new car for years till I built it back up.

I realized I have two credit cards that were paid off that I never turned off. Just paid off and forgot about them. That makes sense why they are still on my credit report as 0

I don't have a credit card. I think that's even smarter.
