The Ray 3 is a double-twisting double layout dismount debuted by Elise Ray at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

This jaw dropping skill has only been landed by a few female gymnasts in international competition: Elise Ray, Shawn Johnson, Jordyn Wieber, Tan Jiaxin, and Wang Yan.

Ray is the only American gymnast to have a skill named after her on Uneven Bars. This was the third move named after her in the Code of Points and the most difficult.

Do you think that Simone Biles will become the second?

It's one of two G-rated dismounts on this apparatus and has gotten more popular over the years.

Don't blink or you'll miss this lightning-fast feat of aerial acrobatics! Like and follow for more gymnastics history in bite-sized videos.

You don’t release the bar into a salto. You release from the bar and go into the salto.
