Jimi loved the Beatles because London was showing him love before anyone else in the world did. Paul and John knew the Jimi Experience were so far ahead of their time.

In 1969, as The Beatles were in effect breaking up (although Hendrix may not have known this), Jimi was trying to assemble a supergroup to record an album. He had already recruited Miles Davis and virtuoso drummer Tony Williams, and those three sent a telegram to McCartney to join them in NYC to make the album. It was sent to The Beatles’ office in London, but Paul was in Scotland and apparently never saw the telegram.

My uncle went to the Monterey Pop festival. He and his friends were smoking a joint near the stage waiting for the show to begin and some black dude walked up and said "hey man, can I get a hit of that?" They said "sure man". They had a little chat and then the show began. They announced Jimi Hendrix, he comes out and my uncle and his friends were blown away when they realized "hey it's that guy!" they had just hung out with Jimi Hendrix. They had heard a couple of his songs on the radio but had never seen him before. Super cool, humble guy, he said. The show blew everybody away.

Love Jimi, The Beatles, AND The Monkees. Born in ‘62 all three were central to my life at one point or another. But having 7 older siblings I was lucky enough to listen to all of their music which broadened my musical tastes vastly.

He did a few Beatles covers (Sgt Pepper's and Day Tripper) and he'd always fit the 'I Feel Fine' Riff into his live versions of Hey Joe. Absolute legends ❤

They played together in a club in England once. If you can find it you'll hear them do "Day Tripper" where Jimmi tears up the lead solo as you can well imagine.

I live near the Monterey Fairgrounds where the Pop Festival took place. I like to go there, close my eyes and listen visualizing Jimi scorching his guitar....RIP Wild Thing!!!!
