Rocky Marciano was every fighter's worst nightmare. A real life Terminator. He was utterly merciless and would just constantly move forward and batter opponents into submission with powerful and horrible shots with the very worst intentions. There was no running away either, he would just keep coming after you whatever you did. And that's why nobody was able to beat him, you don't beat a man like that.

The float like a butterfly and steam like a bee would not have worked with Rocky Marciano. The Brockton bomber would’ve put him down by the fourth or fifth round he was the hardest hitting boxer and all time. Ali probably would have beaten Marciano, but I don't think it would have been a knockout. Coincidentally it would have been a little similar to the movie Rocky, in the way it ended between Rocky and Apollo. But I also think their would have been a good chance that Marciano would have in fact knocked Ali out with a few of those right hooks and body shots. But like Ali said, who can say.

You never know how the fighters would compare from different eras. The fun is in the speculation. I liked what Ali said, everyone was the greatest for their time.

People forget Ali sparred with an old Marciano for the computer fight. Ali said Marciano hit harder than Joe Frazer and Ali goes, "and you know what Joe Frazier did to me." And Ali says that Marciano was better than Frazier.

Not everyone Marciano fought was his weight, in fact, most had at least 40-50lbs on him. Marciano is the template for Tyson. Fight from underneath, lots of power, close the distance where that size and length does not matter. Except Marciano could fight forever, and had a tough chin. Tyson didn't have the endurance (he did have endurance when he was younger.)
