Where does composted cow manure come in? Is it compost or more like fertilizer? I have been using it like compost, but I think it perhaps has too much nitrogen. My tomatoes had very green leaves, much darker than most gardeners’ but I think they under-produced. Cucumbers loved it, though.

Hello from central Indiana, Zone5/6!
I don’t plant a fall garden but am currently trying to button up everything in preparation for the spring.
Would spreading compost be most beneficial now or should I hold off until spring and use something more economical to protect the soil over winter?
