My entire family lives in the Midwest US and my niece wanted to have her wedding in Hawaii. The 2 oldest members of the family were healthy, but could never make such a long flight. We convinced her it was selfish of her and that the "destination" should be for their honeymoon. She relented, and the seniors got to attend the wedding.

the older you get, the easier it is to say no. it's a learned ability. you say yes to everything when you are younger, even if you don't really want to go.
