- Xbox X Series and P55 offer 3 display modes. Xbox S Series displays a single display mode at 30fps.
- Quality mode prioritizes some visual effects and resolution at 30fps. Performance mode prioritizes 60fps at the expense of resolution and some visual settings.
- The most noticeable visual difference in performance mode compared to quality mode is the drawing distance. In any case, there are no major differences between modes.
- The Favour Quality mode is exclusive for 120hz screens. It offers 40fps in exchange for a lower resolution with respect to quality mode.
- Xbox Series X shows a higher average resolution than PS5.
- S Series has minor visual cutbacks, mainly noticeable in terms of global illumination.
- It is possible to switch the aspect ratio between 16:9 (Fullscreen) or 21:9 (Cinematic Mode) in all versions.
- On PC, Ubisoft has confirmed that it is still working on fixing the problems caused by the Nvidia Direct Lighting option. It is recommended to disable it for now.

RDR 2 is still the best looking game for me after 6 yrs.

Series X flexing its CPU and GPU capabilities as the game has a higher internal resolution and better performance, but the resolution is not great even for an open world game.

So let's see:

> No 60fps mode on Series S even though it runs at 720p and has 30fps as the only option.
> Quality mode at 30fps dropping to 1440p on Series X and 1332p on PS5.
> Performance mode at 60fps dropping to 936p on Series X and 828p on PS5.
> 21:9 mode running at 720p on Series X and 672p on PS5 at 60fps.

Heck, sometimes it even feels like we're going back to the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 generations.

828p on PS5 and 936p on Series X??? Worst optimized game ever.

Some people misunderstanding that the 21:9 resolutions make perfect sense because its rendering far less pixels lol.

Oh my God. The current generation of consoles is ending. The demand for heavy games indicates the near end. Achieving 60fps requires lowering the resolution to 900p or below. This is disappointing.

Here's the problem with all those newer games: They're so obssed and bothered to show up newer and newer technologies that they simply forget to make a stunning visual presentation. It DOESN'T matter if your newly released game has Ray tracing or path tracing or nanite or lumen or this or that if at the end of the day it looks like a PS4/Xone game. Last generation we had AMAZING and STUNNING games such as Uncharted 4, TLOU Part 2, RDR2 and so on and they didn't have to come up with such technologies to prove themselves, and when you play, i.e. RDR2, on PC, the game runs super fine with very good performance.

So it really is a shame to have last gen games BETTER presented and optimized than these newer ones, that has poor performance requiring you to buy really expensive hardware and even depend on softwares like DLSS and still not presenting a stunning visual.

The cinematic resolution mode is actually a really smart idea. The game renders a solid chunk less pixels, cutting down on vertical resolution and after playing it for a bit, I actually really like the look of it on my LG OLED, it gives it that movie feel. Though I think it looks best on larger displays ie. TVs 42-inches and up. In terms of performance saving methods, it's actually something I'd to see become an industry standard (you can already do this technically on PC, but many games will likely have issues with UIs and stuff if you brute force 21:9) for those that want a little more performance with a visually unique presentation. Yes, you lose a bit of visual information on the top and bottom of the screen, but at least so far I'm enjoying the look of it.

it's true. GTA 6 is the only one that will respect all console devices and extract every ounce of power from the device.

Ouch, game needs a lot of optimization on consoles. Not what i'm expecting from a $70 AAA game...

Would you recommend me to play it on my Series X or on my Gaming Laptop? Both of them I would connect to my 4k Television. My Laptop has an RtX 3070 mobile

1080p 60fps in 2024 on the flagship consoles is ridiculous considering We already had 1080p 60fps / 1800p 30fps checkerboard last gen with ps4 pro which even ran some games 1800p 60fps, and then the Xbox one x also has 1080p 60fps or Native 4k 30fps and in fact Gears of War 5 ran dynamic 4K 60fps on last gen Xbox One X and yet now resolution has went backwards into the ps3 / 360 era and it’s pretty absurd

What is 60fps mode output resolution? 1440p or 1080p

All because we have some out there that keep saying they want better Resolution and graphics over stability and Framerate...

Just image if all the game engine had stayed with Xbox one X and PS4pro development and just pushed 60-120fps on the PS5 and XsX, nope they wanted RTX and 30fps Cinematics lol.

I'd take Godfall, RdR2, Titanfall, Division2 level visuals from last gen with 60fps-120fps all day.

Dang this made me switch to PC, which I'm glad I did, But I have 1000 game backlog that didn't come with me, beside the ones Xbox offers through play anywhere that I already purchased... 40 games wow... I refuse to buy them over... just wished I switch to pc long time ago to be real about it.

I am starting not like the direction gaming is going in for console for me... can't want to get me a handheld PC one day...
LOW REZ @ 60fps here I come.

The funny thing about the subject is that the game engine is Snowdrop. They have had this engine since the time of The Division 2, from the days of Xbox One and PS4, and until now they do not know how to improve the game on the new console. Ubisoft's problems are very, very many.

Upscalers/upsamplers are incredibly sensitive to resolution. A little goes a long way. Bottom line: if you can hit 1080p internal resolution you can upsample to very nice IQ on a 4K TV. There’s still hope they can get it there with more work. But those black bars…..
