Quick Tip: Learn How to Morph Shape Layers in AE

In this quick tip, we cover the After Effects technique of transforming illustrator art from one shape layer to another by animating the layer path keyframes.
We start off with an example using text, then move on to transforming the adobe illustrator files. I show you how to convert an illustrator file into shape layers, either by the very quick Explode Shape Layers Script, or the traditional time-consuming way.

To get all the paths up quicker click on the layer you want and in the search bar just above type in path and it will show all the mentions of path within that layer.

Also if you don’t want to buy the explode shape plugin instead of doing the copy paste method go into illustrator and put everything you want editable on its own layer. Easy way to do this is click on the main layer and click the menu button then choose make to layers (sequence) and then pull them out so no layer is embedded into another. When importing into AE say you want to use a composite (keep layer sizes) then you can right click these layers and create shapes from vectors.

i understood the tutorial but i have a question. i can only morph to one object to another if they both have the same amount of shapes. if they dont then there will be elements that morph to nothing

click on the layer then on the search tap path to see all the path

When u find all the path using your search bar you can use other script it calls "superselect" this script select the same properties on the selected layers in one click... !!! :D
