DIY sheet metal bending jig

Brilliant, the suggestions, reversing the hinge with a rabbet clearance for the hinge barrel will locate the bending axis to the edge of the hold down and adding a cam lever will facilitate the the hold down process. In addition, adding a laminated meta strip to the underside of the hold down will reinforce the brake edge.

That is cool. I think for the hold down piece, I'd have added bolts with wing nuts and washers so I wouldn't have to unscrew it all the time. I have just a few pieces to bend into a box and this jig works!!

Must use bolts unless that's for 1 time use. screw hole will strip.

Thanks for the ideas used in this simple but effective bending jig. I have a few bending jobs (flat thin aluminum) that this will do the job for me. Fast to build and useful for later small jobs.

Next instead of screws on the bar that holds the metal sheet you can add a locking bar on top of it with a hinge in one end and a lock in the other if you get tired of the screws ...
