Underwater Dolphin Kick is one of the most important skills you can learn in Competitive Swimming which is why many swimming coaches refer to it as the Fifth Stroke!!

Dolphin kick is used in almost every swimming event, and is the fastest way through the water. All you have to do is look at the Caeleb Dressel start and Michael Phelps underwater to see how much of a difference a fast underwater can make!!

In this video, we are going to take you through our tips and the drills you need to master in order for you to improve your Streamline Dolphin Kick and get well on your way to improving your swimming times!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This initial drill will help you master the correct body undulation and a neutral head position. It is best performed with a snorkel so you don't have to focus on moving your head!

Swimming underwater in a streamline position is the quickest way to travel through the water.

This Drill will help you master swimming faster underwater and get you concentrating on two main aspects; A tight streamline position with you arms locked behind your ears and pointing your feet like a ballerina; and smooth flowing body undulations during your butterfly kick, starting from your chest.

A tough but hugely beneficial butterfly kick drill to do if done correctly, Vertical Dolphin Kick is a great gauge of how strong your dolphin kick is as well as adding a great new training method to mix up your swimming sessions!

When doing the dolphins kick, how do you get your arms extended aligned with your back?, I'm newbie and my arms are about 15 degrees off when trying to align them with my back

Is it wrong to use three dolphin kicks instead of two in each butterfly stroke. ?

Humans have been swimming for thousands of years...the 4 "strokes" are a modern age invention and swimming is not limited to that...I saw people swim in many many ways outside what is taught in modern swimming schools which you only need is you want to race against sharks or something and its pointless because lets face it you cant outrun a shark 😂...to sum it up there is probably an infinite number of "strokes"...however you achieve floating just add propulsion and that's a stroke...and not sure but it looks like...everybody has their own stroke that goes perfect with their body type and Im not talking about the "4 strokes" that are as if they are written on the stone or something..
