US President-elect Donald Trump has said he wants to end daylight saving time (DST), arguing it is "inconvenient" and "very costly" to Americans.
In a post on his platform Truth Social, Trump said DST had "a small but strong constituency, but shouldn't" and that his Republican party would work to end it.

DST is the practice of moving the clock ahead by one hour in the spring and back an hour in the autumn to make better use of natural daylight.

Standard time avoids sending children to school in the winter dark before sunrise. DST avoids "loss" of daylight to people in our latitudes who do not wake up early. Pick which one you want if it's too demanding to reset a few clocks twice a year. Millions of Americans fly daily east or west through one or more time zones. They must be suffering profound health problems from the unhealthful effects of time change.

Sunrise today where I live, December 14, is 7:33 am. If we go to permanent DST, sunrise will be at 8:33 am.
We tried this before in 1973, it was still dark waiting for the school bus. There was an uptick in school children being hit by cars waiting in the dark for the bus. It was repealed by the end of it's first year. We never learn from history.
