I also feel like nothing is “new” right now. The fashion cycle is just repeating itself too quickly and I want us to slow the frick down.

maybe the trend wheel has sped up so much that everything is trending at the same time, making it so that nothing is on trend

Honestly, not having anything “new” is so refreshing to me, makes me remember my last fall outfits and want to wear them exactly the same without feeling “outdated”

When influencers on trend videos say “this is what we are seeing now” I’m thinking where?! In the stores? On people? From other influencers/pinterest?!! Drives me insane.

I feel like ppl are more scared to look like they're following a trend more than ever. Maybe it's the wish to be more fashionable without looking like you have no personal style but on TikTok for example I've been seeing so many vids of ppl making fun of others for not having a "personality" and those videos do really well. It has it's good and bad sides but just in general I think ppl are sick and tired of everything having a "name" so when something even tries to become a trend ppl are OVER ITTTT lol it's probs gonna be like that for a little while

I have been thinking about this lately coming into fall, I feel like everything I'm personally into right now is the same as last fall which is honestly refreshing lol. I also think that slower change over multiple years is actually more typical of the industry, and the early 2020s were just a weird hyperspeed blip lol. Hopefully this marks a slowing back down of the trend cycle??

I think, because we’ve seen so many “new” trends in the last 4 years, we’ve reached the limit. What can the amazing, new, never-seen-before trend be, if we’ve seen everything from skinny to wide legged jeans, mini to maxi skirts, big tops, small tops, tops with 3d stuff (like flowers) on them, stripes, dots, flowers, big glasses, small glasses, loafers, boots, trainers. There’s only so many type of different clothes that can trend, and inly so many colours the general public will wear

This has been freaking me out so much lately! I read a who what wear article this week for fall trends on leopard print, burgundy, ballet flats and pointed toes 😭😭 what is going on

I think instead of specific items trending like in 2020 it’s ways of styling that are trending like it’s more about how you wear things instead of what you’re wearing

If trends are slowing down or becoming more subtle and timeless, I'm all in 😍💕

red/burgundy has always just felt "fall/autumn" to me

Will be nice to actually sit with all the pieces that trended these past seasons and instead try to find new ways of styling and combining them!!

I agree that there is not any new trends! It really is just what always comes back around during this season, trench coats, scarves, baggy jeans, its all just weather appropriate clothing with a different name!!! I loved this video so much!!

I agree that there aren’t any “new trends” being shown cause fashion is so cyclical and we aren’t finding new inspirations from runways or fashion news outlets, but I feel like it really depends on what you’re fashion niche is. For example, I tend to dress more on the gothic side of clothing and this past summer we’ve seen a rise in the southern gothic look with Ethel Cain as a huge influence and with the new Flannery o’connel biopic but now that we’re entering fall I’ve been seeing a rise in romantic gothic wear with Winona Ryder and Jenna ortega’s beetlejuice outfits and usage of vampiracle fashion and velvet textures and pinstripe patterns coming in style. Obviously everything that’s “new” isn’t really new but I think our influences on new has a pendulum and art references and interprets other art so so would fashion. But with color pallets, I think we’re so ingrained with the seasonal colors that it will probably never change so we most likely will always see burgundy in the fall but it would be cool to find other hues that could make a new look

I also really liked what you had to say about things slowing down and the yearning for “underconsumption.” For a while now, our items have held less sentimental value because of things like the constant trend cycles and fast fashion so maybe the pendulum is swinging the other way because there is so much value in holding on to things and taking care of your items

This could definitely relate to the early adopters cycle. I think this channel and the people who watch here are likely in the early adopters category. We’re spotting trends way before they make it to mainstream. I think people are saying these things are trending still because, in their world, they are - this could be the first time they’re seeing some of this stuff in mainstream stores. Perhaps there’s less new trends in the early adopter category due to “personal style” being a trend (e.g we’re seeing way more “behaviour-based” trends like decorating bags with charms and sweaters with pins, or shopping second hand), but there will be new ones once these all reach mass consumption level ?

i wanted heeled ballet flats so bad last fall/winter but they were so hard to find.. i just went to the mall and they are now everywhere like target/forever 21 etc. i think it's a mix of things moving slower and also when you are into fashion sometimes it takes a year for things to truly trickle down into mainstream. i've noticed this with a lot of clothing pieces and trends. something that i saw on Pinterest a year ago finally makes it to the mainstream eventually.

i definitely think there’s new trends emerging. one that i can think of off the top of my head is wedge heels. those have been totally out of style for a decade or more (outside of niche fashion circles) and they’re coming back. i feel like the wedge heel trend coincides with 2010s fashion coming back into the meta (which has been “trending” for a while but is still very niche) but i think more elements of the style will become more mainstream (which i think is when something really becomes a trend) and prevalent, so we’ll see a lot more ppl wearing skinny jeans or cigarette pants etc. i also think normcore will be trending again, as it encapsulates a lot of ideas within the “underconsumption” trend and people feeling trend fatigue
