343 Industries RUINED the sound of man cannons

Показать описание
Which Halo game do you think has the best sounding man cannons and gravity lifts?
343 absolutely ruined the magic of them.
The ones in Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach all sounded so alien and otherworldly. They had really distinctive sounds and were so memorable. I've never heard anything even remotely similar in any other game or movie. Bungie's entire body of art was exceptional and unique, everything in the Halo universe felt coherent and consistent.
In Halo 5 and especially Halo Infinite, they sound like a typical blast you'd hear in a sci-fi movie. 343 just tries to make everything look and sound unnecessarily "beefy" to sell the impression of "power." They sound too mechanical, human, machine-like, bland, and lack the alien texture that gave the originals their memorable characteristics. If anyone was to ever ask you about man cannons in Halo, you'd probably visualize the ones from the original games.
Change for the sake of change, I guess.
