⚡️ Taylor Swift:

Lyrics:

[Verse 1]
I have this thing where I get older, but just never wiser
Midnights become my afternoons
When my depression works the graveyard shift, all of the people
I've ghosted stand there in the room

[Pre-Chorus]
I should not be left to my own devices
They come with prices and vices
I end up in crisis
(Tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day, I'll watch as you're leaving
'Cause you got tired of my scheming
(For the last time)

[Chorus]
It's me, hi
I'm the problem, it's me
At teatime, everybody agrees
I'll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

[Verse 2]
Sometimes, I feel like everybody is a sexy baby
And I'm a monster on the hill
Too big to hang out, slowly lurching toward your favorite city
Pierced through the heart, but never killed

[Pre-Chorus]
Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism
Like some kind of congressman?
(A tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day, I'll watch as you're leaving
And life will lose all its meaning
(For the last time)

[Chorus]
It's me, hi
I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me)
At teatime, everybody agrees
I'll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

[Bridge]
I have this dream my daughter-in-law kills me for the money
She thinks I left them in the will
The family gathers around and reads it
And then someone screams out
"She's laughing up at us from hell"

[Breakdown]
It's me, hi
I'm the problem, it's me
It's me, hi
I'm the problem, it's me
It's me, hi
Everybody agrees, everybody agrees

[Chorus]
It's me, hi (Hi)
I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me)
At teatime (Teatime), everybody agrees (Everybody agrees)
I'll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

“I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror.” Dang Taylor, I felt that.
Thats the thing I love about Taylor, she always uses basic words and turn them into stories.

Not a Taylor Swift fan but this track is Masterclass in songwriting. It also helps that the music and vocals are excellent.

She really dug deep for this song. Well written. I would imagine for someone like her, the sheer scope of how big she’s become and what she means to so many people could leave her feeling less like a person and more an object,

One of the most beautifully written pieces of music in recent years. Perfect.

Sometimes artist can articulate feelings and emotions we fail to verbalize, and that's why we can relate and connect to these wonderful songs.

I’m 47 and Taylor Swift still sings what’s in my brain. Like she’s been doing since I was 30! LOL.

Genuinely never really listened to Taylor swift's songs but this song really connects with my self loathing and my unexplainable will to keep going despite how pointless it all is in the grand scheme of things.

“I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror, it must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero”. This woman is a poetic and musical genius

I have a new respect for Taylor Swift for having the courage to admit for her flaws, to admit that she has narcissistic tendency. Respect to Taylor!!! I wish I could know her so i could talk to her cause this song is exactly how my life is right now. 😕

I’m not really a Taylor fan but this song hits wayyyy too close to home for me. I’ve honestly never related to a song like this before :(

I have never been a big fan of Taylor Swift and was quite surprised when I found out that she was the artist behind this song. It's lyrics come from a very vulnerable place; thank you Ms. Swift.

Not an official Taylor Swift fan - but this song simply rocks - the lyrics, melody, and overall meaning set a standard for what music should deliver to the listener. These lyrics get personal for me: "I have this dream my daughter in-law kills me for the money She thinks I left them in the will..." - my Dad passed away in September 2022 due to health reasons but also because of family related stress - a nephew, and to a lesser degree, niece, who were after the property he inherited. These two, plus some other crooked individuals who took advantage of him(like a tenant who hasn't paid rent in three years) made the last years of his life full of stress, which no doubt also took years off his life.

I’ve never given Taylor the time of day, but having battled with depression most of my life, this song really connected with me.

A symbiosis of deep meaningful lyrics, dark synth strings and a minimal low fi beat, that entangle together in a spiral, creating a sublime & subliminal work of art!
