Germany have a 50+1 rule which means every club needs to be owned at 51% by club members.

The idea of a German football club selling itself to a foreign billionaire is sacrilegious. Where as premier league clubs have no problem ceding ownership of the club to a foreign buyer.

English footballs assets are for sale where as other clubs in the continent want to keep ownership of their clubs.

The Premier League is a very artificial league, that relies on foreign investment, to sign foreign players. Because like the English national team, if English football clubs had to rely on English players, it would go decades without winning in Europe.

Italy, Germany, Spain and France have won 5 out of the last 6 world cups. These are proper football nations

The Premier league as whole is definitely more competitive than the CL group stages. Knockout stages are a different ball game however.

Stupid question to ask, how the premier league can be higher than the UCL? You guys already forgot that this same PSG beat man city 2-0 the first league, we do have Bayern and the are playing the best football in the UCL. Even when Real Madrid was winning the ucl 3 times and 4 times in 5 years, and barcelona won it before them we never said the la liga is bigger than the ucl. Be umble

the Premier league on average is a higher standard than the ucl groupstages on average but the ucl knockout stages are unmatched in stature and intensity, partly just due to the nature of them being knockout fixtures

Of course games with Norwich and Southampton are definitely more entertaining than games with Ajax, Bayern, Madrid etc. English arrogance at its best

Tottenham has now lost twice in the 3rd division European competition known as European Conference League. Yesterday they lost to a mid-table league team from Slovenia that had a 6 game losing streak, both in Europe and in their domestic league. Given that Tottenham is still, relatively speaking, competitive in the Premier League, can you honestly say that the Premier league, as a whole, is more competitive than the Champions League?

Champions League will always be the prize of club football for any footballer. Its the best thing a player can win

When Spanish teams dominated europe with an all Spanish starting 11 they never said laliga was bigger than ucl. English arrogance at best.

As a City fan I'm glad they discussed this subject. Every knows we want to win the Champions League but I don't think anyone looks at Sir Alex and said he is as good as he was because he won two Champions leagues. He is Sir Alex because of his absolute dominance of English football across the PL, FA, and League Cups, and as a City fan, of course I want to win the Champions League, but I am also more than happy to win league, after league, after league and with 3 in 4, and 5 in 10, and a CL final appearance now to go with it...City fans are not complaining.

"Fans" who cant name 5 Inter milan, porto or leipzig players are here saying the premier league is more competitive because of burnley and newcastle LOL!

I think in 5 yrs, when Pep & Klopp are gone, the Prem will slip down a bit. The problem England have is they don't produce their own coaches & have to import talent. Germany & Spain might not have the league, but they've got longevity in their footballing IQ, which in my opinion is much mor valuable cos it means you don't have to depend on anyone to succeed.

Leagues move in cycles. PL was shite 1990-2010 relatively speaking. UCL is the peak, only greater achievement is a World Cup medal. Mixing club v country. But, WC medal > UCLmedal > PL medal.

Yes.. Better than ucl for sure.. You can't compare watford, newcasle and leeds.. to juve, inter and ajax.. That will be a shame.. Who is the stupid coming with this subjet today!!!?

Trevor Sinclair had every right to ask the question, you had ZERO right to censor..we are really going to pretend there hasn't been a massive increase in sports people collapsing/having heart issues forced into retirement since the jabs are we?

Premier League is hyped beyond belief. Outside top three clubs the teams are average. It's drowning in money though and the likes of Carragher and the mouthy manc neville try their best to make Palace v Watford sound like it's a big game when usually ir would cure insomnia.

A top 3 league is definitely harder to win than the CL, even Zidane said it I think. But the CL feels better as an achievement

Real Madrid are bigger than the premier league these lot act like Norwich vs Villa is interesting more than a group stage champions league match

Champions is the biggest club competition. Manchester City have dominated the premier league in the last 4 years (which is apparently the toughest league) but yet the champions league has eluded them. and yes they made a champions league final but then again so did PSG and they couldn't replicate it the following season. It is a difficult title to obtain let alone retain. only Zidane in the modern era has done it and he did it 3 times. Not even Luis Enrique could do it and he had MSN (apparently the best trio ever) for those 3 years he was manager. Champions League is the hardest club competition. Real Madrid has the most La Liga titles but the competition they want and demand is the Champions League/European Cup and they have won it 13 times.

At the moment yes. The premier league as man City rose meant that other had to increase thier standard. But can change in a few years if klopp and pep go.

I think Simon is spot on. City, Chelsea and Liverpool are all playing football at another level compared to most European giants - maybe Bayern aside. I don't watch enough of the other European leagues to ascertain if the Premier League is better as a whole but it must be up there.
