"Am I about to cry over this ant?!" Yes. Yes you are. Welcome to the club.

The sequel, called "Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, " is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Antys death always gets me. The scared noises they make and that it was a noble sacrifice just gets me.

Anty dying was only second to Artax for traumatizing kid me.

I'm 53 years old, my sister and I saw this in the theater, I was 17 then and I still cry when Anty dies.

This movie mesmerized us as kids and our imaginations, pun well intended. Rick Morranis is an international treasure. I will never blame him for giving up the industry to put his family first. He gave us so many memories already.

It's funny she's starting Buffy right after this, since when this reaction started, I went "OMG, it's Joyce!"

I miss when Disneyland had the Honey, I Shrunk The Audience show. It was so fun!

Ask any kid who grew up with the VHS release of this movie and they'll tell you it's not the same experience without the Roger Rabbit short that it opened with.

I'm just thinking about how much work all of these sets must have been... Man, movies were art.

I'm 37 and this was a huge part of my childhood. When I was 9, I went to Disneyworld for the first time, and in the park that is now called Hollywood Studios, they had a Honey I Shrunk The Kids land, with the grass, the bowl, the oatmeal pie, and more. It was so much fun. They also had a place that showed you how they made the bee flying scene, and epcot had "Honey I Shrunk The Audience". It was such a good time.

One thing I didn't get until YEARS later, that you didn't get either, when Big Russ was about to shrink, his wife found his Cigarettes, that he kept under his hat. When he unshrunk, his had didn't fit anymore. As a kid I thought what you thought, that he was smaller than he was. But now I get it, his wife threw away the cigarettes, so the hat covered his eyes because there wasn't anything keeping it up. XD

People always talk about the Neverending Story and Artax when they talk about traumatizing scenes in kids movies, but always forget Anty from Honey I Shrunk The Kids. That scene made me absolutely ball my eyes out as a kid. Every time i watched it, I'd always root for Anty to win, even though I already knew the outcome.

"why's the flower hairy?" They're called trichomes and they protect the plant from drying out in the wind, harsh UV rays, and help keep it warm when it gets cold.

One thing I love about this movie is the characters get progressively more bedraggled as they progress. I feel like too often in movies they’re obsessed with keeping the characters “attractive” and they barely have a dirt smudge on their skin after even crazier situations. Here, they were like…no your hair needs to look a hot mess

Rick Moranis was the coolest nerd of the 80s. Fun Fact: He retired from acting so he could spend more time with his kids after his wife died. F cancer.

Fun Fact #2: Russell the neighbor is played by Matt Frewer, who is best known in the cultural zeitgeist as the stuttering cyberpunk AI and 80s icon Max Headroom.

An air hammer is a kind of power tool and yes, Ashleigh, lack of supervision was one of my generation's defining traits. How else were we supposed to learn not to play baseball with a beehive?

"Parents in the 80s, you just let your kids run around?" Grew up in the 70s - just had to be home before the street lights came on :)

I feel like the sequel to this holds up as well. Movies along the same vibe would be "3 Ninjas", "Homeward Bound", and "Beethoven".

This movie traumatized me as a child 😂😂 I too almost throw up any time the drowning scene happens. I have a high gag reflex and I'm always like 🤢🤢.
You are not alone, Anty dying made all of us cry. Here I am 40 watching you watch this and I want to cry 😅

Please watch "Harry and the Hendersons". It's one of my favorite childhood movies.
